Join the GrowNYC School Gardens team for a tour of the green roof at PS 41 Greenwich Village School, led by green roof consultant and manager Vicki Sando!

PS 41’s Green Roof Environmental Literacy Laboratory (GELL) opened in 2012 after a six-year effort. It is the first 15,000-square-foot sedum and native plant green roof in a New York City public school. The outdoor learning space has been a great resource for students of all grade levels since its opening. It also reduces the school’s emissions and energy usage, reduces stormwater runoff, and provides critical wildlife habitat.

Learn the story of this amazing space and how it came to be!

Attendees will receive a copy of Vicki Sando’s children’s book “What is a Green Roof?”
