Free Brooklyn Bridge Walking Tour

Tour led by a 30-year resident of the area who is a licensed NYC Tour Guide, having led hundreds of tours over seven years. You’ll learn the history of the places, buildings, and people as well as local color, locations shoot for major films and tv shows, and even where some of your favorite stars call home.

City Hall: Where General George Washington read the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution was born. Other nearby places of note: City Hall, Municipal Building, Woolworth Building, St Paul’s Chapel, Tweed Courthouse.

Bridge Promenade: Marvel at unprecedented views of the New York Harbor, Manhattan, and Brooklyn skylines while suspended 133 ft (40.5 m) over the East River. Learn the amazing history of the 16-year effort to build this remarkable 19th-century monument to science and art.

Brooklyn Civic Center: Includes the Juneteenth Grove and tribute to Rev. Henry Ward Beecher, and to Brooklyn’s proud place in the slavery abolitionist movement. Other sites include Brooklyn’s Borough Hall (built 1848), city and state courts, and the site of Brooklyn Dodger’s front office, where Jackie Robinson became the first black player in MLB.

Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims: This parish, founded in 1847 and led by Rev. Henry Ward Beecher, is dubbed the Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad because of its part in spiriting enslaved people to Canada, and its activism in the slavery abolitionist movement.

Brooklyn Bridge Park: Built on retired shipping piers, this 85-acre expanse of picturesque woodlands, lawns, tidal pools, basketball courts, and soccer fields is one of NYC’s newest, biggest, and most innovative park spaces. Learn about Brooklyn’s shipping history, and sustainable design principles employed in the park while drinking in breathtaking views of the city.

Fulton Ferry Landing: Top eating destinations now populate the earliest site of Brooklyn’s 19th-century urban development.

Emily Warren Roebling Plaza: We’ll cover the history of the building of the Bridge and the part the Roebling family played, all while enjoying a refreshing break under the shadow of the Bridge.

Dumbo Manhattan Bridge View: We’ll stop by one of NYC’s most instragrammable spots for an iconic photo op under the Manhattan Bridge, surrounded by DUMBO’s historic warehouses and factories. DUMBO is today one of NYC’s hottest neighborhoods as the industrial buildings have been transformed into posh shops, swanky eateries, and some of the city’s most desirable loft homes.
