SSOH Tour: Temple Emanu-El
Tour guests can expect to learn about the rich history of Temple Emanu-El and its beautiful architectural features. Among the earliest Reform Jewish congregations in New York, Temple Emanu-El has served as a flagship congregation in the Reform branch of Judaism since its founding in 1845. Its landmark, 1929 Romanesque Revival building at 65th Street and Fifth Avenue is widely admired as the largest (seating 2,500), and one of the most beautiful synagogues in the world. Mosaics on the interior of the synagogue were created by Hildreth Meière.
