Hangar B Tour
Join a Park Ranger for a tour of Hangar B and the aircraft inside, which are part of Floyd Bennett Field’s aviation history! Tours are held every Sunday at 10 am starting April 23. The tour held on April 23 is one of the launch events for the Spring + Summer Floyd Bennett Field, Revealed! event series.
Now part of the National Park Service’s Gateway National Recreation Area, Floyd Bennett Field served as New York City’s first municipal airport beginning in 1931. Hangar B is home to Floyd Bennett Field’s Historic Aircraft Restoration Project (HARP). Hangar B contains dozens of restored and model aircraft, including a full-scale model of Wiley Post’s Lockheed Vega, “The Winnie Mae.”
Floyd Bennett Field, Revealed! is a series of free events brought to you by Gateway National Recreation Area and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy as part of an initiative to activate the park as a premier destination for the recreation and enjoyment of nature.
