A Special Presentation of “Frida” by the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble
Join us for an evening celebration of Mexican culture through dance! The New York City-based Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble will perform a free presentation of “Frida” at Grace Church Van Vorst in Jersey City. The Ensemble will perform Anna Sokolow’s homage to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with guest artist Christine Dakin in the title role. The evening will also include traditional Mexican dances performed by El Grupo Sueño Americano, young dancers from across Hudson County. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and guests will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Día de Los Muertos puppets from local Mexican-American artist Santiago Cohen. The puppets are featured annually in the Riverview Farmers Market’s Day of the Dead parade hosted on October 30 at noon at Riverview Park.
Wine will be provided and small bites are available for purchase. The performance begins at 8 p.m.
This performance is the final event in the Riverview Farmers Market’s annual Days of the Dead Celebration.
