Play Reading: The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud! Private Eye
The unlikely adventure of Race McCloud! Private Eye is an all-ages adventure comedy play by writer and educator Tom Hoefner that made its NYC debut in 2009 at the NY International Fringe Festival, had a subsequent production the following year at the American Theater of Actors*, and is the basis for an independently published novel and sequel novella. This past spring Tom was hired to produce and direct a show for children at Il Centro, a local Brooklyn community center, and after converting his old RACE McCLOUD script into a young performer’s edition he revisited the full play and did a massive overhaul, streamlining the adventure and updating the comedy.
This first presentation of the new edition of Race McCloud will be presented under the direction of director/playwright Adam Mace — himself a former RACE McCLOUD company member — and features a combination of original cast members with a group of exciting new performers.
Race McCloud is billed as an on-stage comic book, enjoyable for families and audiences of all ages and accessible to performers of every skill level. It is producible on both small and large scales and can accommodate cast sizes ranging from 8 to 20.
