Houses, Secrets and Time: A New Play Reading

Summer on the Hudson presents a staged reading of Houses, Secrets and Time, a new play by Laura MacLean.

Margaret has scraped together everything possible to buy a historical New England home from an elderly neighbor. When her sister finds a keepsake box hidden away, its contents send the sisters on an impulsive trip to Japan to investigate. While they both grapple with the financial loss their father incurred before his death, Margaret’s boyfriend Jim has hopes for a happy future with Margaret. Margaret’s fears about losing the family business cloud her ability to see beyond the past that still holds her in its grip.

Laura MacLean began her writing adventure as a songwriter, focusing on music for many years while traveling and performing. In the mid-2000’s, she turned her attention to playwriting at HB Studio in NYC. She went on to refine her work in the HB Advanced Playwriting Group, under the tutelage of renowned playwright Donna de Mateo. Her short plays were featured in festivals at The Barrow Theatre Space and the HB Playwrights Theatre, with full-length readings at The Lamb’s Club, courtesy of The Writers At Large playwrights group. Laura resides in NYC and is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

This event takes place in the newly-renovated 102nd Street Field House. Enter the Park at 102nd Street and Riverside Drive, then descend to the promenade level. The stairs to the Field House are across the promenade at 102nd Street.
