Storytelling Workshops with Lincoln Center

Join Lincoln Center Theater and NYPL for a series of free storytelling workshops.

“Go out and tell our story. Let it echo far and wide. Make them hear you.”

~ Coalhouse, Ragtime

We all have stories to tell, and we are waiting to hear yours!

This fall, join Lincoln Center Theater and the New York Public Library for a series of free storytelling workshops inspired by the themes of the musical Ragtime. Facilitated by LCT’s dynamic teaching artists, these sessions will explore storytelling techniques while inviting participants to draft, share, and celebrate their own narratives within a supportive community.

All attendees will have the chance to win tickets to LCT’s Broadway revival of Ragtime!

Please note there is no class on Tuesday, November 25th, in recognition of the holidays.

Space is limited | Registration is recommended but not required. Please call the branch at (212) 534-5050 to register. Walkups will be permitted as space accommodates.

Learn more about LCT’s production of Ragtime

RAGTIME is a sweeping musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s novel that follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. and his beloved Sarah, Jewish immigrant Tateh and his little girl, and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother. All are grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold on to it.

Featuring a lush score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a stirring book by Terrence McNally, and original orchestrations by William David Brohn, all of whom won Tony Awards for their work, RAGTIME weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry that blurs the line between personal struggle and national identity, making history feel both intimate and epic.
