Free game design workshop for high schoolers — game on, let’s play
Come join us for an exciting day filled with creativity and fun at our in-person game design workshop series, Game On, Let’s Play!! Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just starting out, this event is perfect for high schoolers looking to dive into the world of game development for social good.
Located at Immigrant Social Service’s Storefront for Ideas at: 127 Walker St in Chinatown, Manhattan, our workshop series covers everything from brainstorming game ideas to creating your very own playable prototype board game. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from and contribute to the community, unleashing your inner game designer. Let’s level up together!
You must attend the entire series from 11am-2pm
- Series 1: Introduction to Games and Play (11-noon)
- Series 2: Introduction to Game Making (noon-1)
- Series 3: Game Creation and Play Testing (1-2)
We will discuss board and video games and create a board game!

Hosts:
Immigrant Social Services: Nurturing and empowering next gen immigrants of Chinatown and Lower East Side NYC since 1972, ISS is an organization with a steady presence in the Lower East Side/Chinatown, a community staple for vital resources.
Theresa Loong: An award-winning director, Theresa creates film and interactive AR/VR/MR experiences. Her documentary, Every Day Is a Holiday, premiered on public television. Theresa exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Asia Society Hong Kong. She produced games for AMC’s The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. Theresa is chairperson of the Filmshop. She served on the jury of the March on Washington Film Festival’s Equity in VR program, was an Oculus Launch Pad fellow, and received a grant from the IGDA Foundation. She is working on Game On, a documentary about game designer Brenda Romero. Theresa graduated from Harvard, received an MFA from Hunter, and teaches part-time at Parsons.
