Webinar “Strengthening Phonics and Vocabulary with Word Study”

Published: March 27, 2023; Author: Julia Sonrisa

Webinar “Strengthening Phonics and Vocabulary with Word Study”

Phonics and vocabulary are essential skills that all young students must master in order to become strong, automatic readers and writers. Word study is a powerful approach that leverages explicit, integrated instruction in phonics, spelling, and vocabulary to build students’ word knowledge. Best of all, word study leverages fun, interactive activities like word sorts to keep students engaged as they build these key literacy skills.

Join award-winning author, professor, and literacy expert Donald Bear as he shares best practices for implementing word study in your elementary classrooms. From tips on grouping students and differentiating instruction to hands-on activities that will get kids excited about learning, Donald will provide practical, real-world advice for strengthening students’ phonics, vocabulary, and spelling skills. Attendees will come away with a clear understanding of what word study is and how to leverage it in their K-5 classrooms best. All attendees will receive free, ready-to-use word study resources.

All educators with an interest in elementary literacy — especially K-5 classroom teachers, reading coaches, literacy leaders, instructional leaders, special educators, and speech-language pathologists — are encouraged to attend this edWebinar. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
