Young Adult Book Group

Hosted by Greenlight bookseller Micah, the YA Book Group is a space for the curious young reader interested in a curated, intentionally diverse, and broad selection of books. While literature is, of course, at the core of this book group, cultivating our very own community and connections are also at the root of YABG, so if this sounds like a good time to you, come join the fun! Note: Young Adult Book Group is geared toward readers ages 13+.

For June, the group discusses From the Notebooks of Melanin Sun by three-time Newbery Honor author Jacqueline Woodson. Exploring race and sexuality through the eyes of a compelling narrator, From the Notebooks of Melanin Sun follows the thoughts of a young black boy, grappling with his mother’s recent coming out and the shock of her having a white girlfriend. A Coretta Scott King Honor Book—Woodson’s middle-grade title transcends age, from an award-winning voice in and across children’s, YA, and adult literature.
