Hosted by Greenlight bookseller Micah, the YA Book Group is a space for the curious young reader interested in a curated, intentionally diverse, and broad selection of books. While literature is, of course, at the core of this book group, cultivating our own community and connections is also at the root of YABG, so if this sounds like a good time to you, come join the fun! Note: The Young Adult Book Group is geared toward readers ages 13+.

For May, the group discusses The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar — When Dimple Met Rishi meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this romantic comedy debut about two teen girls with rival henna businesses. Nishat doesn’t want to lose her family, but she also doesn’t want to hide who she is, and it only gets harder once a childhood friend walks back into her life and a school competition pits the two against each other. As the competition heats up, Nishat decides to stay in the closet for her family or put aside her differences with Flávia and give their relationship a chance.
