Browning Book Talk with Chris Balme

Is middle school actually the worst time of life, or just the worst understood? Join us on Tuesday, Sep. 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. behind the Red Doors to hear from author and acclaimed educator Chris Balme, who will speak about how to tap into the positive potential of middle school.

Mr. Balme begins with understanding what’s going on inside the middle school brain and introduces three key developmental needs for middle schoolers, offering practical tips to support them at each step of the way. Drawing on his experience as a middle school founder and principal, as well as the latest neuroscience, he offers a fresh and uplifting take on the transformative years of middle school.

This talk is based on Balme’s recently published book, Finding the Magic in Middle School, the Amazon bestseller called “a must-read for anyone who has a tween or works with tweens” by adolescent psychologist and author Madeline Levine.

There will be a book signing after the talk. You may purchase your own copy of the book and bring it to the event for an author’s signature.

Space is limited so reserve your tickets now.

About the author: Chris Balme has led two innovative middle schools, trained thousands of parents and teachers, and received the Ashoka Fellowship for his work as a leading global changemaker in education. He is endlessly curious about how we raise wise, loving, and capable young people. Chris lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three children. Find him at chrisbalme.com.
