For February, the group discusses Moko Magic by Tracey Baptiste, the best-selling author of the Jumbies series. In this Afro-Caribbean-inspired story, three cousins discover they are mojos — protector spirits — during carnival season in Brooklyn. The trio is just learning about their skills when the carnival events are disrupted by disaster. Some kind of evil force is trying to stop the festivities. But why? And will moko magic be enough to save the day?
