16th Annual Langston Hughes Literary Arts Festival

Join us for the 16th Annual Langston Hughes Literary Arts Festival at Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center. This year’s theme is “Power of the Written Word,” events include a spoken word artist, an author conversation, a banned book discussion, and performances. All presenters’ books will be available for sale.

Schedule of Events:

12:00 pm: Bob McNeil

Writer and Spoken Word Artist with Keyboardist Isaiah Dunkley.

1:00 pm: Author Diane Richards

She discusses her new novel, Ella, with author Eartha Watts-Hicks.

2:00 pm: Banned Books: What we talk about when we talk about book bans

A conversation with the immediate past American Library Association (ALA) president, Emily Drabinski, and

Kings Bay Library Branch Manager, Rakisha Kearns-White.

3:30 pm: Literature to Life

Mini-performances of If Beale Street Could Talk and I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter.
