American Objects: NYC book launch and presentation at Salotto
We form relationships with inanimate things on a daily basis.
Sometimes their strong narrative power even becomes a vessel for our thoughts, mediated by their presence and symbolism in our lives.
In this photographic anthology, supermarket aisles, bookshops, cafes, subways, and delis — common, even banal, places of daily consumption — take the stage. An absolutely partial and by no means exhaustive collection of America: a clipping of objects that becomes a “cross-section” from which something can be interpreted.
Thirteen authors tell stories about the United States starting from thirteen quintessentially American objects.
Stories by: Elena Brunello, Mattia Carzaniga, Marta Ciccolari Micaldi, Giulio D’Antona, Luciana Grosso, Tiziana Lo Porto, Andrea Marinelli, Michele Masneri, Francesco Pacifico, Laura Pezzino, Lorenza Pieri, Clara Ramazzotti, Enrico Rotelli. Photos by: Laura Sauchelli.
Join us at Salotto for a conversation with Laura Sauchelli and Clara Ramazzotti. The event is open to the public while seats last, reserve yours at this link. At the event, it will be possible to purchase the book.
