These three inspiring tales are full of heart and perseverance, and are sure to inspire you and your young readers! Join a little red panda as she sets out to garner more visibility for her species, read all about the strong president of Ukraine, and then follow a little girl and her dad as they romp about in the snow and spend some quality time together.

Join us in-store to meet:

  • How This Book Got Red illustrated by MELISSA IWAI. When Red discovers a new book about pandas, she can’t wait to read it! Except it’s about only one kind of panda and red pandas are completely left out. Red never gets to read stories about pandas like herself! So she decides to take matters into her own paws and write her own book. But when Red looks around, it seems like the only kind of pandas the world cares about are the black-and-white kind. Will anyone want to read about red pandas? It’s up to Red to finish her story and share it with the world!

  • Brave Volodymyr: The Story of Volodymyr Zelensky and the Fight for Ukraine by LINDA ELOVITZ MARSHALL. Volodymyr Zelensky wanted to help make Ukraine a better, kinder, more joyful place. Born to Jewish parents, Volodymyr had much love and pride for his country. He liked to make people laugh, but he knew humor wasn’t enough to fix his nation’s ongoing problems so, in 2019, he ran for president — and won! Leading with honesty, heart, and humor, President Zelensky stood up for what he believed in, no matter how tough the situation. And when Ukraine was invaded, he bravely defended his country, the Ukrainian people, and their right to freedom at all costs.

  • How Do You Know What You Know? by NOA JONES. this sweet title follows a child and their father on a cozy, snowy day outing. The child asks questions about how things came to be the way they are. The questions range from how the father knows how to tie a shoe to why it’s not a good idea to eat yellow snow. These queries are met by the father with patience and humor that weave a delightful narrative of intergenerational knowledge sharing. In this exchange, respectful inquiry is beautifully modeled for young learners.
