But bossy cousin Emma thinks those ways are wrong! Fortunately, Charlie, the dog is on hand to help with a breakthrough demonstration that there are MANY ways to play, and all of them are right.

• Window Fishing by DK DYSON and illustrated by RUDY GUTIERREZ. Rudeday dreams of creating art that brings people joy but instead, he paints to pay the bills. One day he hears a Tap! Tap! Tap! at his window, and sees a piece of string with a paper clip tied to the end of it, coming from the apartment upstairs. Rudeday has a brilliant idea, carefully painting a fish and attaching it to the paper clip, starting a window-fishing exchange with a little boy upstairs— the pair swap paper fishes back and forth every day. Rudeday is finally painting for fun but he wonders if he will ever meet his window-fishing friend!

• The First Day of Peace by TODD SHUSTER and illustrated by TATIANA GARDEL. Season after season, the mountain people and the valley people live their separate lives, using their own individual water sources, and strictly not sharing with each other. But when a flood comes and traps the valley people, a wise mountain girl sees their plight and says, “We need to help.” Maybe sharing is a good idea after all.

• Good Things by MARYAH GREENE. Malcolm loves everything about his dad, “Pops”, and looks up to him more than anyone. He especially admires the way Pops cares for his plants. Malcolm has dreamed of having plants that will grow as big and healthy as Pops’, but it’s turning out to be much more complicated than he thought. To keep him going, Pops reminds Malcolm that “Good things take time.” But when Pops unexpectedly passes away, and his plants are left to Malcolm; Malcolm feels like there is too much responsibility on his shoulders and hurt in his heart.
