Lecture “Reintroducing Extirpated Flora at NYBG”
Join the Torrey Botanical Society in person at the Pier 57 Oyster Classroom or on Zoom for our first lecture of the season.
Over time, many species of herbaceous plants have likely disappeared from the New York Botanical Garden’s old-growth Thain Family Forest. This presentation will focus on plans and strategies to reincorporate some of these extirpated species into the Forest’s spontaneous flora.
John Zeiger is the manager of the Thain Family Forest, and in that role is responsible for managing the largest old-growth forest in NYC. He is passionate about land stewardship and landscape-scale conservation.
