Lecture “Inside the Head of a Collector”

Shirley M. Mueller, MD will present a lecture in the Barone Campus Center’s Dogwood Room. An internationally known collector and scholar of Chinese export porcelain, Dr. Mueller is also board-certified in Neurology and Psychiatry. This unique conjunction of interests led her to explore the “neuroeconomics” of collecting in the 2019 book Inside the Head of a Collector: Neuropsychological Forces at Play.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with Ink and Time: European Prints from the Wetmore Collection (Bellarmine Hall Galleries, September 12 — December 21, 2024). The prints in that collection were put together in the early 20th century by Fanny Wetmore, a New London, CT native who donated her collection to Connecticut College. For more information on the exhibition please click here.

This talk will also be livestreamed (livestream registration will be added here soon!)

Dr. Mueller’s talk is being presented in partnership with the Arts Institute and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
