Lecture “The Isabella Stewart Gardner Heist”

Join us for an exclusive presentation by FBI Special Agent Geoff Kelly, who leads the FBI’s Art Crime taskforce. Agent Kelly will discuss ongoing investigations into the notorious 1990 theft of 13 artworks, valued at over $500 million, from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The talk will take place in the Dogwood Room of the Barone Campus Center on Tuesday, January 23.

As per FBI.gov: “In 2004, the FBI established a rapid deployment Art Crime Team consisting of 20 special agents, each assigned to address art and cultural property crime cases in specific regions. Coordinated through the FBI’s Art Theft Program at headquarters in Washington, D.C., the team collaborates with foreign law enforcement and FBI legal attaché offices worldwide. Special trial attorneys from the U.S. Department of Justice provide prosecutive support. Since its inception, the Art Crime Team has successfully recovered over 15,000 items with a combined value exceeding $800 million.”

Accompanying the presentation is an image provided by the FBI, displaying the empty frames of the stolen paintings from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
