Talks “Cocktails and Chromosomes”

The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is proud to reintroduce “Cocktails and Chromosomes,” a unique event series happening on the last Thursday of every month at Industry Bar in Huntington, NY. Don’t let “George’s General Store” fool you, come on into this edgy and funky bar! The event will run from 7:00 pm — 8:00 pm monthly.

This is your chance to dive into the world of science, learn more about the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and get to know the brilliant minds behind the cutting-edge research taking place in your backyard every day... all while enjoying your favorite cocktail!

*Please Note: Seating is first come, first serve. Standing room is available once the seats are filled. Reserving your ticket does not guarantee you a seat at the event, however, it does enter you into our raffle.*

Here’s what to expect:

Engaging talks: For roughly 20 minutes, a talented CSHL scientist will deliver a captivating talk about their work and their lab’s discoveries—making science accessible, understandable, and enjoyable for the whole crowd.

Interactive Q&A: After the talk, quench your thirst for knowledge by asking questions and engaging in discussions with the scientist and fellow attendees.

Cold drinks: Throughout the event, attendees can purchase a wide variety of drinks; from beers to hand-crafted cocktails made by Industry’s own mixologist.

You won’t want to miss out. Sip while satisfying your scientific curiosity. Registration is not mandatory, however, RSVPing will automatically enter you into a CSHL raffle (winners of prizes/ merch. will be announced after the event. *If you’re not present when your name is called, a new winner will be drawn*).

Thursday, July 27th, 7:00 pm — CSHL Professor Dave Jackson will discuss where corn came from and where it’s going, and how to increase productivity to make it more sustainable.

Thursday August 31st, at 7:00 pm — CSHL Associate Professor Ullas Pedmale will be discussing plants and climate change.

Cheers to science!
