Brunelleschi: The Amazing Story of Florence’s Duomo
Art history lecture and live cello performance, at Islip Presbyterian Church
Brunelleschi is one of the most brilliant minds of the Renaissance. Come listen to professional artist and speaker Kevin McEvoy discuss how Brunelleschi himself experienced failure in his early career, only to persevere and go on to greater heights. Learn about the Florentine’s revulsion of northern architectural forms, and how the city persevered to create an architecture that was pure and clean; how early Renaissance minds conceived of a synthesis of artistry and engineering; how faith in innovation paved the way to unprecedented triumph. Kevin offers this lecture from his unique lens as a professional painter who lived and trained in Florence, Italy, for several years, and walked beneath the Duomo every day. Kevin is a speaker who has spoken and conducted demonstrations across the United States, from California to New York.
Joining Kevin is concert cellist James Acampora. Performing in venues across New England, James will be delighting the audience with a repertoire ranging from Bach to personal compositions.
This is part of a monthly lecture and music series in the arts, at the Islip Presbyterian Church.
