Queens Tech Fair
Queens’ tech industry is growing, but the diversity of our tech workforce still lags significantly behind the overall diversity of our borough. To help break barriers to entry for members of underrepresented and marginalized communities, join Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. for his inaugural Queens Tech Fair. The event includes a job skills assessment from leading artificial intelligence software firm SkyHive, mentoring and networking opportunities, on-site support services, interactive activities, a group discussion on breaking barriers, and more.
Tips for getting the most from the tech fair:
1. REGISTER. Prior to the event, all participants must pre-register with their name, email, and home zip code.
2. PREPARE A RESUME. To maximize your career potential and to get the most out of the tech fair, participants are encouraged to get a FREE SkyHive job skills assessment. Make sure that you have an updated resume (digital or on LinkedIn) available to upload. We also recommend that you bring to the fair a digital device (mobile phone, laptop, etc) to be able to access their job skills profile from SkyHive.
3. UPLOAD RESUME. Participants will receive an invitation from SkyHive to upload their resumes for a free job skills assessment. The job skills assessment is an important tool for you to maximize your career potential and your experience at the tech fair. Learn more about SkyHive here.
4. ENGAGE. At the fair, visit the various stations below. Get your TECH FAIR PASSPORT signed off at each station for your chance to win giveaways sponsored by Microsoft and other event partners. An optional behavioral skills assessment will also be available to complete at the fair.
5. CONNECT. Take a post-event survey and tell us what you thought of our event. You’ll be entered in a raffle for your chance to win a headset from VEDX.
