Eliza Thornberry, a twelve-year-old girl with the secret ability to talk to animals, feels her life is perfect as she travels the world with her documentary-making family. Her world shatters when poachers kidnap a cheetah cub she was protecting. After she breaks her promise to use her powers only for good to try and save it, her parents, unaware of her gift, send her to a stifling boarding school in England. Determined to rescue her friend, Eliza escapes and embarks on a perilous journey back to Africa, teaming up with a mischievous chimpanzee and a street-smart city kid to confront the dangerous poachers and save the wild kingdom she loves.
