Directed by George Tillman Jr. and based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel, “The Longest Ride” intertwines two love stories across different generations. The film follows Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood), a champion bull rider recovering from a serious injury, and Sophia Danko (Britt Robertson), an ambitious art student, as they fall in love despite their different paths. Their romance is paralleled with the story of Ira Levinson (Alan Alda), an elderly man whose decades-long love affair with his late wife, Ruth (Oona Chaplin), unfolds through a series of letters. When Luke and Sophia rescue Ira from a car accident, they discover his poignant letters, which reveal timeless lessons about sacrifice, commitment, and enduring love. As their relationship faces challenges, Ira’s story inspires them to fight for their future together.
