Sounds of Hope: A Concert Celebrating Black Composers & Classical Favorites

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon celebrating the legacy of Black composers and timeless classical favorites at Sounds of Hope. This powerful concert features the talented Shared Voices Cohort from the Denyce Graves Foundation, who will present a stunning performance that highlights the works of legendary Black composers like Margaret Bonds, Roland Carter, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and H.T. Burleigh, alongside beloved pieces by classical icons such as Puccini, Gershwin, Strauss, and more.

Generously co-hosted by The Harlem Chamber Players, New Heritage Theater Group, and City College Center of the Arts. The concert’s program creates a vibrant tapestry of music, showcasing both trailblazing works that have often been overlooked and cherished classics that continue to inspire. The Shared Voices Cohort’s performance will uplift and amplify the voices of underrepresented artists, bringing attention to their profound contributions to the world of classical and operatic music.

Through this event, we celebrate the power of music to transcend boundaries, unite communities, and inspire lasting change. This concert serves as a powerful reminder that art can bring hope, amplify diverse voices, and inspire a more inclusive future.

Don’t miss this special afternoon of celebration, reflection, and musical excellence, as we honor the enduring legacy of Black composers and continue the movement toward greater diversity in the classical music world.
