Thursday Afternoon Films “Dracula’s Daughter” (1936)

“Dracula’s Daughter” is a 1936 horror film that follows the story of Countess Marya Zaleska, the daughter of the infamous Count Dracula.

The film picks up after the events of the original “Dracula” (1931), with Countess Marya struggling to control her vampiric nature and her growing obsession with a young psychiatrist, Dr. Jeffrey Percival. Marya is haunted by her family legacy and desperately tries to resist the vampiric urges that threaten to consume her.

As Dr. Percival becomes drawn to Marya’s beauty and mysterious aura, he is unaware of her true nature. He becomes entangled in her life and becomes the target of her growing obsession.

“Dracula’s Daughter” is a dark and atmospheric film that explores themes of forbidden love, the struggles of identity, and the enduring power of the supernatural. The film features chilling imagery, an unforgettable performance by Gloria Holden as Countess Marya, and a sense of suspense that keeps the audience engaged until the film’s dramatic climax.
