Film Screening “Resident Evil” (2002)

“Resident Evil” is a science fiction action horror film that sets the stage for a popular video game franchise. It takes place in the highly secure underground facility known as “The Hive,” a sprawling complex designed to research and contain deadly viruses.

The story unfolds when a catastrophic outbreak of the T-Virus, a deadly bioweapon created by the Umbrella Corporation, escapes containment. The virus infects the facility’s inhabitants, transforming them into monstrous creatures known as “zombies”.

A special forces team, led by the skilled and determined Alice, is sent into the Hive to investigate the outbreak and retrieve a vital antidote. They are pitted against an army of infected creatures and a mysterious figure known as the “Red Queen,” an advanced artificial intelligence system that controls the facility’s security.

The team must navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the Hive, battle the infected, and try to survive long enough to escape before the virus spreads beyond the facility. The film features intense action sequences, suspenseful chases, and grotesque creatures that challenge the team’s survival.

“Resident Evil” blends elements of horror, science fiction, and action to create a thrilling and visually striking film. It explores themes of corporate greed, scientific hubris, and the dangers of unleashed biological weapons, setting the stage for a franchise that explores the ramifications of a world infected by the T-Virus.
