Hanukkah Celebration

Join us for a special Hanukkah event in Hudson Eats, with live music, art-making, photo ops, and festive treats for everyone to enjoy! And if you’re able, please bring a new, unwrapped toy to help bring joy to children in need!

Live Music: Zisl Slepovitch Klezmer Ensemble

The Zisl Slepovitch Klezmer Ensemble is a critically acclaimed klezmer collective, the first to focus exclusively on the music and culture of Litvak Jews and their neighbors in Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and parts of Ukraine. The ensemble features a uniquely distinct sound, a mix of drones from Belarusian bagpipes and stings, with a recognizably Jewish idiom, and high-energy, “shtetl-disco” music, along with traditional Eastern European Jewish vocals. The band’s repertoire also includes contemporary klezmer pieces written in the spirit of roots music.

Art Activity: Lantern Making

Surround yourself in light with the creation of paper lanterns! Create a landscape, cityscape or an abstract pattern using a variety of papers, markers, decorative hole punches, and tea lights in this intergenerational activity. Only skills needed are creativity and the desire for some home-made holiday joy.

All materials will be provided.

Photo Op

Commemorate Hanukkah 2023 with your loved ones in our photo station — with a Hanukkah and Brookfield Place backdrop!

Complimentary Sufganiyot from Mah Ze Dahr

Attend the Hanukkah Celebration in Hudson Eats and receive a token to enjoy one mini sufganiyot, a fried jelly-filled donut from Mah Ze Dahr. Offer is valid during event hours, while supplies last. Commonly served during the Hanukkah season, these sweet, fried treats symbolize the one-day supply of oil that burned miraculously for eight days.

Toy Drive

Donate new, unwrapped toys, and help FDNY bring joy to children in need this holiday season! Books, mobiles, infant and newborn items, and youth sports equipment (soccer balls, footballs, and basketballs) are needed.

Toys will be donated to:

  • La Casita Women’s Shelters 1&3
  • Columbia Presbyterian Children’s Hospital
  • Pump Harlem Youth Mentorship & Tutoring
