Get ready to enjoy a day of fun and celebrate a day of diversity and community unity as One Crown Heights proudly announces its much-anticipated 8th Annual One Crown Heights Community Festival, scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 from 12 pm to 5 pm at Brower Park (Park Place between Kingston Ave and Brooklyn Ave). This spectacular event, brought to you by a dedicated team of volunteers, coalition members, and sponsors, promises to be an extraordinary celebration of community, culture, and collaboration! The One Crown Heights Community Festival is a vibrant platform that transcends boundaries, embraces differences and dialogue, and fosters a sense of togetherness and shared space. This event is free and open to all, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary celebration.

Key highlights of the 8th Annual One Crown Heights Community Festival include:

Partnership with Brooklyn Children’s Museum: Beloved Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, will provide free admission to the museum during the festival time.

A Cultural Extravaganza: The festival will come alive with captivating performances by Tropical Fete’s steel drum band and stilt walkers, feature band: Zayah, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter: Steff Reed, Aaron Einhorn’s music with themes of harmony and community engagement, and inspiring local youth talent duo: violinists, Bud and Tal Jackson. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience the diversity of Crown Heights on one stage!

Gastronomic Delights: Indulge your taste buds in a culinary journey like no other! Local food vendors, Call Chef Food Services (Non-Kosher) and Carbon BK (Kosher Certified) will tantalize your senses, offering a mouthwatering array of flavors to explore.

Fun Activities for the Whole Family: Kids will be treated to a fun-filled and educational experience, with engaging activities, storytelling sessions, roller skating lessons with Outdoor Skates, and an interactive gymnastics show with J-Leagues.

Community Conversations: This will be the 4th year of the Community Conversations Tent, called ‘Neighbors to Neighbors, Can We Talk,’ where local residents are invited to engage in discussions in a safe space to hear directly from their neighbors. Community Conversations is sponsored by the American Jewish Committee, (AJC), and facilitated by participating New York City agencies and local stakeholders. It will take place from 2 pm to 3 pm near the Park Place and Kingston Ave entrance of Brower Park.

Community Resources and Health Screenings: The festival will provide a platform for non-profit organizations and community initiatives to raise awareness about their causes, fostering a spirit of solidarity and compassion among attendees. Health organizations will also provide vital health screenings and education.

Artisan Marketplace: Discover our local small businesses, supporting their creativity and entrepreneurship.

About One Crown Heights: One Crown Heights is a coalition of organizations, representatives of local elected officials, community leaders, and locals that seek to unify our diverse community and create a cooperative network of businesses, institutions, and organizations that will work together to promote communication, economic growth, social justice, and cultural vibrancy. Our mission is to ensure that Crown Heights is a safe, healthy, and thriving neighborhood for all of its residents. We strive to foster a sense of community, collaboration, and pride in the Crown Heights area. Our members are dedicated to creating positive change in our neighborhood through advocacy, education, and activism.

One Crown Heights has received funding and organizing support from its inception, from The JCRC -NY, in its role as an anchor agency of the Mayor’s Office on the Prevention of Hate Crimes, Partners Against the Hate (PATH) initiative.
