NY Film Festivals “Post-Pandemic”

March 2020 — most of the United States shut down all in-person activities, including film festivals. Festivals pivoted to virtual screenings, reaching new audiences.

As the world unofficially/officially moves on from the Covid-19 Pandemic... Film Festivals seem to be back! How are festivals navigating the post-pandemic world? Have they been able to retain the virtual audience garnered during the pandemic? Has their role changed in terms of distribution? What has been the impact of the racial reckoning of 2020? What has the consolidation of the media industry- and the new stance of streamers to take production in-house mean?

And what does the changed landscape mean for filmmakers as they start planning their festival strategy?

Join us as filmmaker Anjanette Levert talks with New York programmers and directors of diversity-affirming festivals as they reflect on the last three years as well as look forward. Joining us will be Nabin Park of Pridefull, the BIPOC LGBTQIA festival, Carolyn Butts of Reel-Sisters Film Festival, programmers Inney Prakash and Samah Ali, Candace Jones, Producer of the Urbanworld Film Festival.

In person at the City College of NY, Shepard Hall Room 290, 2nd Floor.

To get there: #1 to 137th Street, ABCD to 145th Street. ID is required to enter the building, no vax or mask requirements.
