Concert “You Oughta Be In...SONGS”
A free concert at the gallery in honor of the current exhibition “Wayne Koestenbaum: You Oughta Be In Pictures,” on view through 12/20.
João Sheranian is a Brazilian-Lebanese singer, songwriter, and actor. In New York, he originated the role of the Emcee in the immersive production Curiosities in Brooklyn and played The Bard in The Blank Page at Luna Stage. He has also been celebrated in Provincetown, MA for his series of one-man shows featuring cabaret, original music, and new material, and recently performed in the sold-out world-preåmiere run of the musical Jack of Hearts Club, produced by Tony Award-winner Tom Kirdahy at the Provincetown Theater.
It was in Provincetown that João met his husband, creative partner, and greatest love, Andrew Sheranian — a classical organist, pianist, choirmaster, and conductor who recently founded a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to the music of Bach to new listeners and communities. A year into their relationship, they merged their artistic worlds and have performed together ever since. Their collaborations have included a popular residency at the Crown & Anchor (2022–2024), performances as the sole musical artists at the Art Gaysel visual arts festival, and a weekly piano bar night at Dbar in Dorchester, Boston.
For this special one-night performance at “B” Dry Goods, their shared musical heart lies in the sounds of Judy, Barbra, and Ella... always with a twist.
