Infinite Light, Eternal Voice: Songs and Paintings of the Soul is an art exhibition and concert crafted by artist Christine Arand.
Ms. Arand will be accompanied by Dmitriy Glivinskiy on piano and Dan Lippel on guitar.
Christine Arand
Soprano Christine Arand, described as an “Up-and-Coming Diva” by The New York Times, has captivated audiences worldwide.
She began her career with the world premiere of Philip Glass’s Les Enfants Terribles and went on to perform on Broadway in La Bohème directed by Baz Luhrmann and Nine directed by David Leveaux. At Lincoln Center Theater, she sang Yvette Guilbert in Belle Epoque. Christine’s international credits include playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and Maria in The Sound of Music at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and Northwestern University, Christine blends her musical training with a passion for painting, often drawing inspiration from the world around her, whether through song or on canvas in her Harlem studio.
Christine’s concert performances include Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Requiem, Berg’s Cantata No. 2, and the world premiere of Tan Dun’s Lament: Autumn Wind at Lincoln Center. She debuted at Carnegie Hall, premiering David Childs’ Requiem.
Her operatic roles range from Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Hawaii Opera Theater) to Gilda in Rigoletto and Violetta in La Traviata (Kimmel Center), as well as the title role in Agrippina (Teatro Massimo, Palermo) and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (Arizona Opera, Fort Worth Opera), among many others.
Guitarist Daniel Lippel, called an “exciting soloist” (New York Times) and “precise and sensitive” (Boston Globe), is active as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and collaborator in diverse contexts. Recent solo performances include the University of New Mexico, National University of Colombia in Bogota, Sinus Ton Festival in Germany, Le Poisson Rouge (New York), University of Texas at San Antonio, UC Davis, Lawrence University (Wisconsin), the Cleveland (CIM) and Connecticut guitar festivals, and the New York, Triangle (N.C.), and US Classic Guitar guitar societies. He has been the guitarist forcounter)induction ensemble since 2019 and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) since 2005.
As a chamber musician, Lippel has performed at the Macau Music Festival (China), Teatro Amazonas (Manaus, Brazil), Dutch National Opera, Ojai Festival, Acht Brücken Festival (Cologne, Germany), Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, Guitar Foundation of American Conference, and as a guest with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, New York New Music Ensemble, Phoenix Symphony, and Talea Ensemble, among others.
Lippel is co-founder, owner, and director of New Focus Recordings, releasing several recordings as soloist, chamber musician, and producer on the label, and has also recorded for Sony Japan, Bridge, Kairos, Wergo, Innova, Albany, Starkland, and Tzadik.
Dmitriy Glivinskiy
He is a Ukrainian pianist, vocal coach, and conductor. He is the Music Director of the Opera department at UConn, where he also teaches collaborative piano. He is a graduate of Mannes College of Music and of the Peabody Institute, where, among his teachers, were Pavlina Dokovska, Boris Slutsky, and Scott Jackson Wiley. He is a former faculty member of Hofstra University and Brooklyn College. Most recently, he was the music director for the “Writer’s Room” project with Experiments in Opera and for the American Opera Projects and NYU Tisch Opera Lab, both of which are incubators for new operas.
