The Constituency is the backing band of New York City native, modern-day troubadour, and folk rock singer/songwriter Erich Collins Carey.

Carey’s music is a throwback to the heyday of Dylan, the Dead, and the Band, channeling the sound of his influences but with an emphasis on bringing together a spirit of unity and community... and the occasional good party. ECC categorizes his music as a unique blend of home-brewed styles he affectionately calls “barefoot rock n’ roll.”

ECC was a cornerstone member of Washington, DC outfit the Rock Creek Kings with whom he toured the East Coast extensively from 2015, winning the WEHM FM Real Band Battle and playing the Great South Bay Music Festival in 2019 until relocating back to NYC. During the disruption of Covid-19, ECC used music as a unifier, bringing together his block for nightly music and to clap for essential healthcare workers from his rooftop on the Upper East Side.

The Constituency is a powerhouse of its own, with roots deep in the New York City music community. Featuring Elvin Cartagena (lead guitar), Jessie Cartagena (bass)(both of The Cartagena Band), and Eric Lense (drums) the band brings together a diverse set of influences, a dedication to quality songs, an enthusiasm for live performance, and a belief in the power of channeling positivity to bring people together through music.
