Join us in celebrating GRAMMY-nominated percussionist Wilson “Chembo” Corniel! Born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, Chembo trained with top percussionists in New York and Cuba, becoming one of the most versatile musicians in the field.
Chembo has taught at SUNY Purchase and The Drummers Collective, led percussion clinics worldwide, and shared the rich traditions of Afro-Caribbean music. He released a congas instructional DVD in 2000 and has been a proud endorser of Latin Percussion instruments since 1982.
Having toured with major artists and appeared on shows like “The Bill Cosby Show” and “Dora the Explorer,” Chembo now leads the GRAMMY-nominated “Chembo Corniel Quintet,” specializing in Latin Jazz.
