Concert of Adelphi Chamber Ensemble
The Adelphi Chamber Ensemble is part of the Adelphi Orchestra’s 70th anniversary season, which aims to bring classical music to the community. The ensemble consists of violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists who perform in various combinations and settings.
The concert will open with Haydn’s Quartet for Strings in G major, Op. 64 no 4, a lively and elegant piece that showcases the composer’s mastery of the genre. Next, the ensemble will play Tchaikovsky’s Quartet for Strings no 1 in D major, Op. 11, a romantic and expressive work that includes the famous Andante cantabile movement. The concert will conclude with Walker’s Lyric for Strings, a beautiful and poignant piece that was originally written as the second movement of his String Quartet no 1.
