*image alt text* — In 1973, CBGB was founded, planting the seeds for the most influential artists of a generation. Soon after, just blocks up and away, a willow tree was planted in the soil of a burned-down tenement for the generations yet to come. CBGB’s was shuttered and eulogized in 2006, as the willow continued to take root. The Creative Little Garden is proud to present a free concert event five decades in the making. Three towering artists come together under one towering tree in a celebration of open space and the continued legacy of live music in the East Village. Mutual Benefit, Elora, and Caroline Kuhn perform for one afternoon only. Weep no more; the next generation of music is under the willow.

Mutual Benefit — Mutual Benefit is the decade-long NYC-based symphonic folk pop project of Jordan Lee and a rotating band of talented collaborators. Their newest LP, Growing at the Edges, will be released on October 6 via Transgressive Records. The album sees Lee bring in his first-ever co-producer and represents a five-year-long effort in artistic growth. It’s a lesson in opening the wounds of old questions and looking for new, better answers. Lee notes that “a central theme of this album is that it’s okay, at any age, to search your core beliefs and figure out if you might be fundamentally wrong about something.”

Elora — Elora grew up in a household of artists, where creativity and self-expression were valued above all else. Her dad, a former Marvel comics illustrator, and her mom, a graphic designer, instilled in her a love for art and music from a young age. She began studying jazz in college, but a plot twist saw her studying songwriting with indie rock artist Kate Davis. Elora usually writes songs out of necessity, pouring her emotions and experiences into her lyrics and melodies. Elora co-produces her music with her partner, Theo Walentiny, and together they have crafted a unique sound that blends indie rock, jazz, and pop. Her music is characterized by thoughtful lyrics, soaring melodies, and unexpected sonic elements that keep listeners engaged. Elora is currently working on a record with Paper Moon Records, which promises to be her most ambitious and personal work to date. With her passion for music and her dedication to her craft, Elora is poised to become one of the most exciting and innovative artists of her generation.

Caroline Kuhn — Caroline Kuhn is a singer-songwriter from New York. A graduate of the New England Conservatory and LaGuardia High School, Kuhn adds pristine vocal harmony to several city-based projects. She performs her solo music on both guitar and banjo, sometimes alone, and sometimes with a rock band. Most recently, she has written a forthcoming album of enormous, introspective indie rock songs. It’s her first major artistic statement under her own name, showcasing her truly singular soprano and unwavering degree of command as a songwriter. Kuhn comes from a family of musicians. She got her first recording gig when she was five, and went on to perform jingles for national TV commercials throughout her childhood. At age ten, She joined the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, which cemented her love and dedication to performing as a singer. In LaGuardia High School’s vocal program, she honed her skills as a composer, which led her to study contemporary improvisation at the New England Conservatory in Boston.
