Concert of Sue Maskaleris and Trio do Rio-Brazilian Jazz

Sue Maskaleris and Trio do Rio perform original and classic Brazilian jazz plus jazz. Pianist and singer Sue is the composer and lyricist, with Paul Socolow on electric bass and Samuel Martinelli on drums. Samuel appears on her latest CD, “Love Is the Key”, which ranked #6 on the Latin Jazz charts of the Roots Radio Report for 2021.

Sue’s first 2 CDs, “Unbreakable Heart” and “Bring Nothing But Your Heart” feature jazz legends Eddie Gomez, Lenny White, Mark Murphy, Michal Urbaniak, Mark Egan, and Toninho Horta.

She placed second worldwide in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Composition Competition and won the Billboard Song Contest, world category. She was a winner in the JAZZIZ Magazine “Keyboard on Fire!” Talent Search was judged by Dave Brubeck and Bob James. She has played in NYC for decades and toured the world solo and with groups.

The concert will take place in the library’s front plaza. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and/or blankets.

Paul Socolow has recorded/toured with Herbie Mann, Tania Maria, Romero Lubambo, and David Byrne among many others.

Brazilian educator/producer Samuel Martinelli has performed with Claudio Roditi and samba queen Alcione among others. He recently founded the Brazilian Rhythm Workshop.
