Webinar “Funding for Research Training and Career Development in Ealing”
Join us for a deep dive into securing funding support for your application for a Master’s or PHD and boost your career prospects.
Have you ever considered doing a Master’s or a PhD in a health or social care-related subject? Do you live in Ealing or work for Ealing Council? If yes, this webinar is for you.
Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Ealing, in collaboration with the University of West London, has developed a local support offer to mentor Ealing residents and Council staff to prepare their application form to the Pre-Application Support Fund.
The Pre-Application Support Fund offers up to 12 months of flexible funding so you can prepare your application for an NIHR career development award. This can include payment for training, protected time, and backfill of posts. There are three application rounds per year. The funding is to help you advance your research career into health and social care, including topics related to the building blocks of health, such as transport, education, employment, and the built and natural environment.
This webinar is being hosted by HDRC Ealing, with guest speaker Professor Kay Mafuba, Professor of Nursing at the University of West London.
The webinar will:
- Provide information about the Pre-Application Support Fund
- Set out the local support and mentoring offer
- Provide details of how to apply to take part in the mentoring scheme
- Opportunity to ask questions
Background information:
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is the UK’s national funder for health and social care. It funds, enables, and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people’s health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. It offers Career Development Awards, which are funding for Master’s training as well as PhDs and post-doctoral qualifications in health-related research. Completing a successful application for these training awards is very competitive, and so the NIHR now offers a Pre-Application Support Fund to help you prepare a competitive application for an NIHR career development award.
This webinar will be recorded, so if you register for it and are unable to attend, you will be sent a link to the recording.
