Webinar “The 12 Habits of Resilient Educators”

Unless you’ve worked in a school system or had your own classroom, it’s hard to describe what any one day can look or feel like. Each day is a million little decisions along with frequent stimuli and responses, and educators can feel alone, exhausted, and ready to throw in the towel.

What are some of the attitudes and behaviors of resilient educators who successfully manage the unique stressors of this profession? Are there certain habits or practices that we can use to cultivate resilience? Within each of the 7 Mindsets, there are specific thought structures that we can focus on to develop and nurture resilience. Using research from 7 Mindsets as well as other contributors, this edWebinar will help to strengthen the reserves of educators who may be struggling with bouncing back, who may want to deepen their understanding of themselves and how they choose to respond to things, and who understand the importance of a thriving, not just surviving, as educators.

This edWebinar will be of interest to PreK-12 teachers, school and district leaders, librarians, school counselors, and education technology leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

Julie Spierto is a senior educational services manager for 7 Mindsets. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, a degree in secondary education from Peabody College, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University. Julie has been a middle/high teacher, varsity soccer coach, geometry team coach, Teacher of the Year, sponsor for several different high school clubs, and a graduation coach. She has worked in middle and high schools in Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia for 15 years. Julie loves working with educators across the country integrating social-emotional learning into the classroom and seeing the incredible impact the 7 Mindsets can have on educators and students!

Born, raised, and educated in New York City, Sharai Garcia has been an educator at heart since she was young. From working at summer camps and aftercare programs to later becoming an educator and administrator in New York City and Miami-Dade public schools, social-emotional learning has been the common thread across her various roles in the educational sphere.

Jaron Roberson is an education services manager directly supporting SEL implementation with an emphasis on program fidelity and sustainability. Jaron was first introduced to the 7 Mindsets while in his second year of teaching during a 7M PD. He first integrated the mindsets into his own life and then implemented them in his classroom and saw a remarkable turnaround with his students. His favorite mindsets are “Everything is Possible” and “Live To Give.”

Jaron earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from Clemson University. His seven years of experience include teaching high school, special education (emotional behavioral disorder, autism, interrelated), middle school math, science, and social studies in rural, suburban, and inner-city schools. His expertise consists of trauma-informed and resilience teaching, restorative practice and circles, and tangible activities that build positive culture and climate. In his free time, Jaron’s passions include spending time shopping, traveling, and doing things that cost money! Jaron is super excited to be at 7 Mindsets because it’s not just where he works but who he is.
