Webinar “Supporting Multilinguals with Podcasts and Video Lessons”

Join Monica Brady-Myerov, author of Listen Wise: Teach Students to be Better Learners, and Tan K. Huynh, career teacher, consultant, and author as they share research-based approaches to making video and podcast lessons accessible to multilingual students.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to think through creating multimodal lessons in a meaningful way for their instructional purposes
  • How to select comprehensible input and structure content-specific output for multilingual
  • Tips for how to use Listenwise’s new ELD Lesson Library to expand academic vocabulary, build background knowledge, and provide exposure to academic language in context

Attendees will leave this edWebinar with practical instructional strategies for making video content accessible for all multilingual.

This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 teachers, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

Tan Huynh is a career teacher, consultant, and author specializing in language acquisition and literacy development. Tan has taught students from 5th to 10th grade in public, private, charter, and international schools. He has served as a language specialist and as a secondary social studies teacher. Tan shares teaching strategies on his blog, podcast, and online courses with the hopes of celebrating teachers who answer the call to serve multilingual learners.

Monica Brady-Myerov is a content area specialist in audio and its use in the classroom and an expert in podcasting, fact-based reporting, and narrative storytelling. She is a 25-year veteran (audio journalist/public radio journalist), and is the founder of Listenwise, a listening skills company. She is the author of the book: Listen Wise: Teach Students to Be Better Listeners. The book has personal anecdotes from the author and accessible excerpts from the latest neuroscience of listening and auditory learning, making it a critical resource that will explain why listening is the missing piece of the literacy puzzle.
