Webinar “Text, Twitter, Email, Call: Parents` Preferences for Communication and Engagement”

Communication with parents is more important than ever, but what really works with today’s parents? During the 2021-22 school year, Project Tomorrow polled nearly 5,000 parents of school-aged children from across the country about their personal preferences for teacher, school, and district communication through the Speak Up Research Project. The resulting data were analyzed to reveal common aspirations and essential differences in those preferences.

A key factor in the analysis was understanding how a parent’s age or generation influenced their preferences for different communication modalities or digital engagement tools. The reality is that we have four generations of parents with children or grandchildren in our nation’s schools. Texting may work with a millennial parent who has a kindergarten student but that may not be the best strategy for a baby boomer grandparent who is the guardian of a high school student.

In this edWebinar, we will share the findings from this nationwide research study and discuss the importance of personalizing school-to-home messaging to meet the needs and expectations of an increasingly diverse parent community. Attendees will gain access to a new e-book with the study findings and additional resources to support more effective communication and engagement with their parent communities.

This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 teachers, school and district leaders, education technology leaders, and communications and PR officers and leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
