Webinar “The Secret Connection Between Handwriting and Reading”

The secret to literacy is in your hands. During this edWebinar, attendees will learn the connection between handwriting and reading and identify how they are explicitly linked to student success. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how teaching handwriting in the classroom supports literacy development. Attend this session to:

  • Identify how handwriting is a foundational skill for reading success
  • Learn the research connecting handwriting and reading
  • Discover multisensory strategies to integrate letter formation, letter naming, and letter sounds to promote literacy development

This edWebinar interests PreK-3 educators, administrators, reading specialists, and occupational therapists. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

Christina Bretz is an occupational therapist from Lexington, KY. She has extensive pediatric experience providing services to children in school settings, early intervention, home health care, and private tutoring. Christina established an annual summer handwriting camp utilizing the Handwriting Without Tears® program. Christina began working for Learning Without Tears in 2002 and currently works as a program specialist and national presenter.

Tania Ferrandino graduated as an occupational therapist from her native England in 1992. She has practiced in multiple settings but ultimately specialized in the school setting, working extensively with children of all ages and abilities. Tania’s passion is sharing best practices for engaging and working with children to achieve written production success with educators. Learning employs Tania Without Tears as a Sr. professional learning producer and national presenter.
