About the Presenters

Julye M. Williams founded The Project 2043 Institute, a U.S.-based company whose mission is to educate and prepare organizations for an inclusive, equitable, and diverse multiracial society. In her 20 years in education, Julye has established free tutoring programs in New York City, created and led international youth exchange programs, co-founded a public elementary school, and created resources on race and diversity, trauma, and social-emotional learning that have been downloaded by over 75,000 educators nationwide. Julye is a passionate advocate for racial and social justice, is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and holds an MBA from Florida A&M University.

Catherine Wigginton Greene is a writer, producer, documentary filmmaker, and educator whose storytelling focuses on strengthening human connection and understanding. Her most recent production, Let’s Take This Offline — a live sketch-comedy show about the absurdity of modern digital communication — premiered at Capital Fringe Theater Festival in 2022. Her feature documentary, I’m Not Racist... Am I? which follows a diverse group of teens and their families through a yearlong exploration of race and racism, is used throughout the U.S. as a teaching tool for starting a racial dialogue. Her debut novel (co-authored with Christine Platt) Rebecca, Not Becky, a story about race, friendship, and motherhood, will be published in December 2023 by Amistad. A graduate of Coe College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Catherine is currently pursuing her doctorate from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development where she is researching group dialogue.

About the Moderator

Barbara Pape, Senior Director for the Learner Variability Project at Digital Promise, led a three-year national survey on learner variability and teacher practice, wrote the paper defining learner variability, hosts a monthly webinar series, and co-developed The IEP Project. Previously, she worked in policy analysis and communications for nonprofits and the U.S. Senate. Barbara has written for numerous publications and was editor of the first electronically delivered education newsletter, the Daily Report Card. Previously, she produced the Teaching & Learning conference for the National Board, worked in the communications office for the AFT during President Al Shanker’s tenure, and headed up government relations for the City Colleges of Chicago. She earned an Ed.M. at Harvard and coursework toward a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. Barbara launched her career as a middle school teacher in her hometown of Pittsburgh.
