Webinar “Diversity in STEM: Expose Students to Future Career Possibilities From Your Classroom”

In the words of Marian Wright Edelman, “You can’t be what you can’t see.” As documented by the U.S. Census Bureau (2020), women, Latine, Indigenous, and Black/African Americans are underrepresented in STEM. Many students in these underrepresented groups cite lack of representation and exposure as some of the reasons they don’t pursue careers in STEM.

Discovery Education has joined forces with global corporate and community partners to develop curricula, classroom activities, and more that provide educators with the tools needed to expose students to career opportunities in STEM. Their content empowers students to consider options for the future while igniting their passion for STEM learning today.

In this edWebinar, presenters from Discovery Education will explore their catalog of no-cost tools and discuss best practices for implementation in the classroom. Attendees will leave with an understanding of:

  • Diverse STEM professionals excelling in an array of STEM careers
  • High-quality digital programs supporting STEM engagement for underrepresented groups
  • Project-based learning and ready-to-use resources for STEM lessons
  • Free opportunities are available for students to interact with STEM professionals in real-time

This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 educators and school and district leaders. There will be time for questions during the presentation.
