You’ll hear from Pam Allyn, renowned author, educator, and creator of LitCamp and LitLeague, out-of-school programs that have transformed literacy achievement, and Jimmy Brehm, Vice President of Academic Planning and Solution Development at Scholastic Education Solutions.

This edWebinar will be of interest to PreK-8 teachers, librarians, and school and district leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

Pam Allyn is an award-winning author, speaker, and global advocate for the power of literacy to change the lives of young people. Her books include Every Child a Super Reader, 2nd Edition, coauthored with Dr. Ernest Morrell. Pam is also the Founding Director and President of LitWorld, a global literacy initiative.

Dr. Amanda Alexander is Scholastic’s Chief Academic Officer and brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the field of education. Dr. Alexander began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has served as an assistant principal in the New York City Department of Education and as a principal in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). She later joined the DCPS central office in a variety of roles with an emphasis on principal supervision. Over the course of her time as a central office administrator, Dr. Alexander also led literacy initiatives and a districtwide task force to identify and implement evidence-based practices in reading and learning to improve student performance.

Jimmy Brehm is currently Vice President of Academic Planning and Solution Development at Scholastic, supporting schools and districts around the country with creating and implementing high-quality literacy instructional practices. Prior to joining Scholastic, Jimmy was the Chief Academic Officer at Woodford County Schools in Kentucky. He has over 15 years of experience in public education, excelling in roles such as director of curriculum and instruction and elementary school principal. Jimmy started his career as a fifth-grade classroom teacher at Nicholasville Elementary School in Jessamine County, Kentucky.
