Webinar “The Science of Reading and Biliteracy: A Perfect Match”

¡La ciencia de la lectura es para todos! The Science of Reading is for everyone, but how can we best support our emergent bilinguals? Join us to learn why celebrating bilingualism and biliteracy as assets and cognitive strengths in assessment and instruction can propel emergent bilinguals to reading success in English and Spanish.

This edWebinar will be of interest to teachers, librarians, and school and district leaders of the elementary school grades. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

She has collaborated on projects designed for multilingual students with Stanford University’s SAIL project and UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science. Alestra teaches college English with the University of California Berkeley’s Equal Opportunity and Advancement Program and at Mt. Tamalpais College at San Quentin Prison. She firmly believes that literacy development is a lifelong endeavor and the most impactful way to change lives.

In 2021, she made the tough decision to leave the K-12 public/charter school system to work for Amplify, Inc., and has served in many exciting roles on both the Spanish Research and Spanish Professional Development Design teams. Her current role is as a biliteracy product specialist.
