Published: January 16, 2023; Author: Julia Sonrisa

 January 24, 2023    04:00 PM-05:00 PM EDT
Webinar “Using Learning Science and the Science of Reading with Adolescent Students”

In this edWebinar, ELA educators and leaders will learn about how the Science of Reading and Learning Science has practical application in English and language arts instruction to help support all learners at the middle and high school levels. As educators and students are still feeling the impact of interrupted learning, applying the underpinnings of the Science of Reading to the study of literature and informational texts will help students bridge the gap and get back on track. Attendees will learn how to integrate the ideas into their classroom instruction.

Topics discussed will include:

  • Applying essential questions to make learning relevant
  • Implementing the practice of close reading
  • Engaging in collaborative discussions
  • Utilizing effective annotation and notetaking skills for collecting text-based evidence
  • Integrating language and writing using choice in project-based assessments

This edWebinar will be of interest to middle and high school teachers, school and district leaders, department chairs, and curriculum leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
