Webinar “Making Digital Citizenship Meaningful”

Have you been struggling with how to integrate positive digital habits, routines, and expectations when there are a million other things on your plate? Are you trying to incorporate more student leadership and voice? Join this edWebinar to hear from elementary, middle, and high school teachers about how they are meaningfully integrating digital citizenship into daily routines and instruction, as well as how they’re partnering with their families. Attendees will leave with clear ideas of how to incorporate digital citizenship routines and habits into their daily/weekly routines and schedules that can be implemented immediately!

This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 teachers, school leaders, education technology leaders, and teachers of students with special needs. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

About the Presenters

Sparkle Peters is the EdTech Coordinator at A School Without Walls: Virtual in the New York City Department of Education. She has been an educator for 10 years, filling roles such as learning specialist, dean, and technology integrationist where she worked to help students and educators excel as digital citizens and thrive in an ever-changing edtech world. Her passions revolve around using technology and edtech tools to understand, connect and facilitate the growth of students. Sparkle has partnered with Common Sense as an educator using the curated lessons and then as a presenter delivering professional development to build a culture around positive digital citizenship and 21st century skill acquisition.

Brianna Lucas is an instructional technology coach at Fairfax County Public Schools. She has been a coach for the last three years. She has six years of teaching in Title 1 schools with many different demographics of students: ESOL, SPED, and Advanced Academics. Like any teacher, she is a lot of things—primarily, an instructional technology coach integrating technology into the classrooms through teacher development and a leader in emphasizing that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted, whether that is in our physical space or digital space. With over 10 years of experience in the world of elementary education, she works to support all staff and students in navigating their digital lives.

Mel Mollick is an instructional technology coach for Fairfax County Public Schools. Her background experience is in literacy; she was both a middle school literacy teacher and instructional coach at a Model PLC school. In her current role, she helps bridge the gap between technology and best practices for students, staff, and families. When she’s not listening, coaching, and leading, she can be found buried in a book, on the field playing airsoft, or immersed in a video game.
